RAPID RESPONSE MECHANISM FOR HIGHER EDUCATION IN EMERGENCIES

RRM+ is a project of APGES, an organization that creates and monetarily supports projects with social objectives. It is also supported by entities such as FAMI, the MNE (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the FE (European Fund).

It’s main goal is to provide a platform to strengthen academic capacity to respond to crises; promote collaborative responses; generate untapped resources; improve understanding and accountability, as well as inspire political commitment so that higher education is seen by governments and donors as a top priority during crises.

APGES is the Global Platform for Syrian Students, a non-profit multi-stakeholders organisation, founded in November 2013, by Jorge Sampaio, former President of Portugal, with the support of a core group of institutional partners, namely the Council of Europe, the League of Arab States, the International Organization of Migrations (IOM) and the Institute of International Education (IIE).

This initiative is unique in that it effectively brings together the efforts and the contributions of the various stakeholders willing to back an emergency mechanism to support Syrian students: governments, international and regional organisations, donor agencies, universities, foundations, NGOs of different cultural backgrounds and faith-based organizations, the private sector and individuals. Through a Network of Partners, an Academic Consortium, and a Special Emergency Fund, the Global Platform for Syrian Students works in a collaborative way.

One of the quickest, simplest and most effective ways to contribute to the future of these displaced young people is through donating money. They seek peace and comfort in their lives, something that guarantees them an opportunity to grow and become members of an active society.

It is through your support and donation that it is possible to combat all the needs and difficulties felt by these young people. Your donations allow RRM, in partnership with APGES, to help these displaced young people achieve their goals. All the money donated is used to meet their needs, such as housing payments, food costs or tuition fees at the institutions that will host these students.
